Leeds V Yeovil Empty Leeds V Yeovil

Post by bartmart Sat Oct 31, 2009 9:15 pm

Am extremely worried by the amount of confidence around for this game. Yeovil are on a good run, we with the exception of the other night are not, in fact until the Bristol result we seemed to be going backwards.

Grayson seems to developing the depressing managers ‘favourite’ players syndrome where certain players i.e. Bromby, Hughes, Vokes will be in the team regardless of the opposition, the location of the game or other squad members form.

We have admittedly got a stronger defence than last season with the additions of Higgs (please get well soon), Crowe, Kisnorbo, Bromby, and this seems to have improved the form of Michalik and Marques.

We have kept Beckford which is our ‘get out of jail’ card, but we still have a terrible lack of width, genuine pace, and (with the honourable exception of Johnson) goals from midfield.

I don’t want to get the delusional ‘I know better than the manager’ fan syndrome, but we will probably stick with the same team today, which will I fear leave us with no pace, width or creativity.

If Yeovil come and get men behind the ball I think it will be a tight huff and puff game that we hopefully will win 1-0.

I know I could be accused of being greedy and making excuses for people (and myself), but I am sure some of today’s probable low attendance will be down to the lack of flair in the team.

I can accept keeping things tight away from home, quietening the home fans and grinding out a result, but at Elland Road why can’t we play with attacking full backs and at least one genuine winger ?

The one optimistic feeling I have for this game is the noise coming from the Yeovil camp which suggest that they will come to Leeds and attack. I do feel that the solid 4-4-2 side that Grayson seems to prefer will probably get us out of this division and can hurt teams if they attack us.

I just find it hard to drum up any enthusiasm for games at Elland Road where teams come to defend and we play without any width or pace. Sleep

Does anyone else feel the same ?

I know where you're coming from bm but...
Was at Brizzel with my two lads
We were solid and certainly didn't lack flair or pace, the new lad Gradel looks useful once he's fully fit!
    Howson had a blinding game
Casper was wobbly in the first half and solid in the second
The defence was very solid all game, they had two shots on target and 3 off
The difference this year is we have good coverage all over the park
And we have had a fair few players scoring
I had a bitch after the Bristol game because I thought we gave possession away to often
but looking back we limited them to very few chances...had to remind myself we were the away team
If we had made more of our chances ie 14 shoots on target 9 off target it could have been a Rugby score
Yeovil should't be too much of a worry if we remain solid, we should score
