Elland Road redevelopment Empty Elland Road redevelopment

Any redevelopment of Elland Road is close to all our hearts I'm sure you'll all agree.
What are people's opinions on the artists impressions as shown on the Official Site. No links included Wink

Personally I would like to see redevelopment to take place and if the World Cup bid is the vehicle by which this is driven then so be it.
I do however have grave misgivings over the two-tier Kop proposal. A smaller version of the East Stand is not what I had in mind one bit. scratch
However I do like the look and feel of the North corners which could be extended in the future if necessary.

it all looks a little 'smooth' round the edges to me? dont get me wrong i am sure it will be excellent in many ways but ER has always had 'edges' and shape, the new design looks like a meringue? scratch

One possibility I thought of for visiting supporters in a redeveloped ER would be a new South West corner used for times when the South East pie was not sufficient for required allocation. I'm no fan of away fans behind our goal. I would sell Season Tickets in the South Stand and this would appeal due to the proximity to the visiting support. This in turn could create competition in terms of atmosphere generation between The Kop and The SS.
The biggest most obvious hurdle to this idea would be the Police and probably local residents as the area around Billys could become something of an incident black spot.
However an access tunnel could be built between the South corners and also to the car park off Wesley Street.

This is all just the rambling of a mad Jock and never likely to come true but all devised in the attempt to make ER a new ground with the same old hostile atmosphere.

Feel free to rubbish this idea. tongue

My initial thoughts are all positive
It's not a fine detailed 'artists impression' but I like the general style
And if there is some funds coming from the World Cup it could be a real win win for the club
I like the ideas put forward by Begbie re the South Stand
And it would be great if they could work on the acoustics during the changes to ramp up the noise...I mean our fine singing
The capacity isn't over ambitious either
Obviously we'll need to see a lot more info and more detailed drawings
