4 more wins for promotion

Whilst I would like us to achieve 100 + points and have virtually won the league at Christmas, we are Leeds so I have taken the opportunity of the league 1 break to look at what are our minimum requirements for achieving automatic promotion.

92 points should achieve promotion, we have got 36 already and would have to a massive drop in form to not at least achieve another 33 points from the home wins and draws below, and another 11 points from the home draws and defeats below.

Which gives us a total of 80 points. So we need to win four of the more ‘difficult’ games to achieve promotion, as the meerkat says on the advert ‘Simple’. I am pretty sure it will not be that simple, but I will keep updating this post to see how we are going.

For me personally I will sleep easier at night if as quickly as possible we amass enough points to only need to win the easier home fixtures to achieve automatic promotion.

It is only 4 wins if we win four of the games I have identified as potential losses,it would be 5/6 additional wins to attain 90 to 93 points if we win 5 or six of the games I have identified as potential draws.

Lets just concentrate on taking each game has it comes.

We now only require 1.8 point per game to achieve 92 points, or to put it another way if we remain undefeated for the remainder of the season 13 wins and 18 draws would do, or 19 victories and 12 defeats would do.

I obviously did not expect to get all or even the majority of my predictions correct. What I am attempting to do is comfort or console myself with the maths of what Leeds probably need to do to achieve promotion.

I am obviously overjoyed by the away win on Saturday as every win makes the maths look easier. The points per game average has now come down to 1.76, 18 victories out of the remaining 30 games will more than likely be enough, am looking forward to being able to say we only need to win all our home games to achieve 92 + points.
